Bug - disabling custom screen resolution

Postby phi » 18.01.2006 18:00:27

Hello, first let me say that this program is excellent. I do plan to donate if I can get these 2 issues resolved. Otherwise I will need to discontinue use because I can't fix my system issues.

1. In settings--> switching desktops --> desktop elements, I have separate wallpaper for each of 4 desktops. However, I have *disabled* custom screen resolutions (because I want to maintain one resolution among all desktops). Unfortunately, if I try to configure a desktop wallpaper, and click 'ok', dexpot still tries to change my resolution (and defaults to a horrible 800x600). I have tried to disable this many times, but even though I do disable, anytime I go to change my wallpaper the program tries to override my resolution.

2. If I do set the custom resolutions for each desktop at my preferred resolution (which is a workaround for the above), I cannot set 1280x1024x32x75hz, which is what my monitor operates at. It is not on the list of available resolutions.

If there is a config file that I can hand edit, or registry keys that I can change, please let me know. I have not investigated how the dialog boxes actually implement user changes in config files, I can do this myself if the dialog box coding has a bug.

I use windows xp sp2, and have a viewsonic vp930 lcd monitor. I use a leadtek geforce 6600 gs video card.

Thank you for your excellent work - Phil

Nabend. :dex:

#1 is a bug caused by #2. If Dexpot can't find your screen resolution in its list (for whatever reason), it picks the first item in the list, which happens to be 800x600 or even less. It's fixed in the development version...
