Hi Patrick (or whoever is looking after support these days),
Thanks for your WONDERFUL app.
Back on September 15, 2012 callhimharry reported a "minor bug: new or removed files not shown"
The original post was: callhimharry on 15.09.2012 13:09:01
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Shortly after callhimharry posted his original message, (and after a brief reply from Patrick)
on 20.09.2012 23:11:20 callhimharry reported: My dexpot copy was automatically updated now, and this bug was gone!
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Now, a year and a half later, I'm having a similar problem:
Here's the problem:
On any and all desktops, if I create a new file or folder on the desktop, or paste a file or folder onto the desktop, or drag a file or folder out of a folder onto the desktop, or delete a file or folder, the change is not shown on the desktop until I press F5 or RightClickTheDesktopAndSelectRefresh. Thats the only bug I'm encountering. Everything else is working SPLENDIDLY.
I'm using a newly downloaded copy of Dexpot 1610 r2373 Portable on Win XP SP3 running on an old AMD Sempron 3000 (2.00GHz) with 2gb ram. Although the machine slightly slower than a brand new machine, it runs almost everything correctly with the exception of some of the very latest hi-res graphic software.
While it's not a terrible bug, if it's easy to fix it would be very nice to have the desktop refresh automatically.
Or, if there is no easy programatic fix, is there any way I can set a rule to make the desktops refresh?
Vielen dank und glückliches Neues Jahr von Vancouver Canada,

Re: OnAllDesks-New/Deleted Files/Folders InvisibleUntilRefre

That's with "Customize desktop icons" (Settings > Switching desktop) enabled, right?
It's a Windows XP thing. Try this: Switch to Desktop 1, exit Dexpot, log out of your Windows account and back in, start Dexpot. Does the problem still occur?
Re: OnAllDesks-New/Deleted Files/Folders InvisibleUntilRefre
Hi Patrick,
Thanks for your fast reply.
As you suggested, switching to Desktop 1, Logging Out and then Logging back in provided a solution, but only partial.
After I followed your suggested steps, (I tried it several times to make sure the results were consistent), desktop number one functions normally, but all my other desktops (two thru 8) still have the same problem as before. Any suggestions?

Re: OnAllDesks-New/Deleted Files/Folders InvisibleUntilRefre
Go to "C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Desktop". Is there a hidden folder called "Dexpot Desktops" with subfolders for the individual desktops inside?
Re: OnAllDesks-New/Deleted Files/Folders InvisibleUntilRefre
Hi Patrick,
Sorry that I'm going to give you another long answer, but I think that it's better to give you too much detail than too little.
a. I'm using the portable version of Dexpot
b. My normal desktop is not in C:\My documents. Instead, I use D:\DESKTOP\ for my normal standard desktop. I set it up that way using TWEAKUI 5 years ago, and it's never caused a problem.
c. When I did the Dexpot setup, I installed Dexpot into C:\program files\DEXPOT_PORTABLE
At that time:
------
d. Dexpot put my individual desktops in D:\DESKTOP\Dexpot Desktops\ (yes, the folder is hidden)
e. Dexpot put my global desktop (the folder for icons that show up on all desktops) into
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop (currently that folder is not hidden... but I don't remember if I un-hid it myself or if it was installed that way)
------
I like that arrangement very much.
When I installed Dexpot, I didn't want Dexpot to put my individual Dexpot desktop folders into C:\My Documents\ .
That's the reason why I used the portable version of Dexpot.
Did I do something wrong?
If my non-standard setup makes it difficult for you to troubleshoot, then if you need it I'll set things up the standard way.
