Taskbar pager blinks randomly

I am using Dexpot 1.1.60 build 2373 with Windows 8 64-bit. The only plugin I use is the Taskbar Pager. My machine is an Asus UX31A, but I've done a clean OS install to get rid of preinstalled crapware. This problem has been around in previous Dexpot versions as well.

When I login to Windows, everything works fine for a while. Then, eventually (sometimes it takes hours, sometimes only a few minutes) the taskbar pager starts flashing randomly. By "flashing" I mean the entire taskbar pager disappears for a very brief period, and then comes back to life. There are no functional sideffects, but visually this is very annoying. The period between flashes seems to vary from a couple of seconds to about 10 seconds.

The only workaround so far is to reboot the computer. Simply exiting and restarting Dexpot does not solve this problem.
