xwidgets

Postby e92bmw01 » 20.02.2013 23:56:06

Hi all,

I've slowly been messing with my desktops and trying to clean them up and love the ability to do that with some nice widgets using xwidgets. For example, on my home screen, I only have a big clock widget since I also use objectdock and make my taskbar disappear.

The problem I'm having is that after applying different widgets on my various pages, every time I restart the computer every single widget gets sent to the home screen while the other screens are left empty.

I was wondering if anyone knows a way to prevent this from happening and keeping all of the widgets in the correct pages. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

:dex:,

are you referring to the XWidget tool?
Are you using a special theme? How did you manage to move the widgets to a different desktop?

Yup, the xwidget tool. It allows for you to download and install widgets onto the desktop (for example a clock widget or weather or rss, etc).

I set my computer to have multiple desktop screens using dexpot so that I have a home page (mostly empty), finance, hw, media, etc. This way I keep all of my categories separate and clean. Once set up, I installed different widgets on each screen and everything works well and as it should. However, after rebooting the computer all of the widgets that were set up for the other pages appear on my home page (first page). For example, on my home page I have a clock and weather widget. On my finance page I have an RSS feed linked to different business related sources. On my media page I have a frame that shows my pictures from my computer. Once I reboot the computer or restart the xwidget tool, every single widget goes to my home page and are missing from the pages they were assigned to.

I think my wording was wrong leading you to confusion (i means desktop screen instead of just desktop).

Thanks for the response, I really appreciate your time and effort to helping me figure out a solution.

still don't know how you move the widgets to a different desktop (e.g. via 'Desktop Windows', 'Desktop Manager', hotkeys or window context menu). Are you using the default theme?

Hey Sebastian,

Sorry about the confusion. I just go to the screen I want to put a widget on and use the widget manager that comes with xwidgets to put it on the screen. I'm switching screens using hotkeys. In desktop windows the xwidgets application shows up under windows only on the first screen even if I have widgets put onto the other screens as well. Not sure if thats helpful to you or not.

I am using a default theme. Just the regular windows theme, dexpot for multiple screens, objectdock for a dock on the bottom and top of the screen and now xwidgets.

Thanks again for taking the time to look into my issue. I really appreciate it.
