Toggle maximize horizontal and vertical?

Would it be possible to make the maximize vertical and horizontal into toggles? It would be nice to assign:

Middle-click Maximize button = toggle maximize vertical.
Right-click Maximize button = toggle maximize horizontal.

Then when you use it you could use the same click again to return the window back to it's original height/width...
