Startup Rules Only Open In Desktop 1
Hello, I just got Dexpot and i want to open separate programs in deskrop 2 and 3 but when i open dexpot the programs open in desktop 1. Unless i have it set to "On First Entry". Any ideas?
Re: Startup Rules Only Open In Desktop 1

Sounds like you're referring to "Configure Desktops > Start-up". What exactly did you set up there? Please also describe in a bit more detail what you're trying to achieve and what the problems are.

Re: Startup Rules Only Open In Desktop 1
Hi,
I am actually experiencing the same problem. To provide more information on what I did;
I configured Dexpot to start when Windows (is Windows 7) starts.
Dexpot is configured to have two virtual desktops.
Through "Configure Desktop", the "Start-up" tab I added a commands to each of these desktops;
Desktop 1
Command: some local batch file starting an application
Event: Dexpot start
Close: Never
Desktop 2
Command: another local batch file starting a different application
Event: Dexpot start
Close: Never
all desktops
Nothing added
What happens now is that on start-up both these batch files will be executed on Desktop1. Even though I configured one of them to be started on Desktop 2.
What I'm trying to achieve is that on computer start-up, Dexpot is automatically started with two desktops. On one of these a certain batch file has to be run automatically (on boot really). On the other desktop another batch files has to be run automatically.
If there's another way to achieve this, that's fine. As long as the two batch files are started from two different desktops.
Thanks, Ben

To add even more information (the Ben from above is me, I only created the account after posting that message
)
I'm using Dexpot 1.6.5 Pro, Build 2207.
Currently on trial license.
If you need more information let me know.
Cheers, Ben

Re: Startup Rules Only Open In Desktop 1

That's expected in this case. The start-up configuration doesn't apply to subprocesses, so only the batch files' command prompt windows will be moved to their respective desktops, but other applications started by the batch files will open on the current desktop.
Maybe you could use "Assign applications" to bind the applications started by the batch files to the correct desktops.
Re: Startup Rules Only Open In Desktop 1
No, that won't work as the application that is being started is java.exe in both cases.
Is there any other way to achieve what I want?
On boot, have two desktops; one on which batch file A is started and one on which batch file B is started. And obviously anything started from those batch files should appear on the correct desktop.

Re: Startup Rules Only Open In Desktop 1
By the way, as the original poster mentioned, it does work as expected when choosing "On First Entry". But that means starting the application on the 2nd desktop does not happen automatically on boot. Unless you can cycle through the desktops on start up?
