pager stopped working this morning

Postby dkarr » 01.09.2012 17:55:33

This morning I checked my laptop and it said the "dexpot pager had stopped working". Dexpot itself is still running, but the pager display is gone. I was able to get into "Settings", and when I went into "Plugins and Extras" I noticed that the "Taskbar pager" entry was unchecked. I tried checking it again, but it wouldn't turn on.

I'm attaching an excerpt of the log.

Getting back to this, what process do I dump for this?

I use Process Explorer, which has both "Full dump" and "Mini dump" options. Would I use "Full Dump", or would "Mini Dump" provide enough information?

Mini dump should be enough. However, if you have a 64-bit Windows, please don't use Process Explorer, but the 32-bit Task Manager as described in the FAQ.

It's 32-bit Windows7, so I assume Process Explorer's Mini Dump is ok.

You'll note that it's been quite a while since I first reported this. The reason you haven't seen a crash dump is that I normally have the status bar set to auto-hide, and when the dialog that comes up that says the app has stopped working, it prevents me from bringing up the status bar, which gives me access to the start menu, which gives me access to Process Explorer (or Task Manager, for that matter). Once I dismiss the dialog, I can get to it, but then the process is gone, so I can't generate a crash dump.

I've been seeing this error once every couple of days. Several days ago I decided to turn off auto-hide so I'd be able to generate the crash dump when this happens next. Curiously, I haven't seen this error again since I changed that. It would seem this is relevant.

Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open the Task Manager.

I finally have a dump file after it crashed, but the forum won't let me attach it. I've tried several variations on the extension, and I can't fool it.

Zip files work, but there's a 2MB size limit. If the file is bigger, send it per email or put it on Dropbox or any other file hosting provider. Yay, cloud!

It's 41 mb.

I think I've made it public at https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BzByqRAfzsn7alNsYlFJc3ZwZWc

Ok, thanks. Please try this version:

Taskbar Pager.exe
(750 KiB) Downloaded 149 times

It'll probably still crash. When it does, upload a new dump.

Ok, new dump file in that public dir. The new one has the ".DMP" extension.

Can you give a link to the directory? I think the previous one was only for that one file.

I just got an error dialog titled "Microsoft Visual C++ Debug Library", with the following contents:

"Debug Assertion Failed!
Program: ...\plugins\Taskbar Pager.exe
File: ...\vc\include\list
Line: 256
Expression: list iterator not decrementable
...
"
I've uploaded the dump file and shared it at https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BzByqRAfzsn7c05kOG13dVowVGc .
