Icon placement messed up

I have three desktops , and I've noticed that from time to time icon placement get's messed up.
So today, icons are messed up on desktops 1 and 3. Icons are all positioned vertically, left to right, starting in the top left corner, accept for the desktop number 2, there, icons are on their original positions.
It's really a chore to position the icons again on their original places.
Can someone explain to me what's going on, and is there anything I can do to prevent it?

Here's a workaround. When you have your icons arranged the way you want on all desktops, go to "Settings > General" and save a new profile. Then, if the placement gets messed up again, reload the icon positions from the profile. There is a hotkey for quick access at "Settings > Controls > Hotkeys > Miscellaneous > Reload icons from profile".

If you have any more details in what situations exactly the problem occurs, that would help to figure out why it happens.

I have a similar problem.
When I change the placement of the icons on one of my three desktops and then restart my computer, the icons are automatically restored to their previous position.
This is very annoying because I move around the icons and folders on my desktops a lot, and now I always have to save the profile before I shut my computer down.
Is there any option to automatically apply the changes I make in the icon placement, like there is for the background, screen resolution and screensaver? (Like "Apply manual changes to Dexpot configuration" in the Switching Desktops tab)

Are the icon positions kept when you switch desktops once more or manually exit Dexpot before restarting the computer?
