Wrong copy window behaviour with excel 2007

Postby garu » 19.09.2012 12:07:13

previous version 1.5.99 r1805
current version 1.6.2 build 2143

Hi,
i just installed the very last version and now excel 2007 behaves differently.
I have configured "copy window on current desktop" and "Keep all taskbar buttons visible" is not checked.

Supppose i perform the following actions, open an excel file in desktop1, then switch to desktop 2 and open a second excel file.

With 1.5.99 both desktops shows excel window and both taskbars shows all opened excel files.
With 1.6.2 both desktops shows excel window, desktop 2 taskbar shows both excel files, but on desktop 1 excel is no longer in the taskbar.

I think the correct behavior was that of 1.5.99

Thanks,
Gabriele

:dex:

When you open two different Excel files on the same desktop, do they open as two documents inside a single Excel window, or in two separate instances of Excel? What's your Windows version?

I'm using Windows 7 pro and excel is opening multiple file in the same instance. I have "Show all windows in the Taskbar" checked.

There's no way in Win 7 to open excel file in multiple instances unless you apply the MS fix http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2636670 that makes opening in different instances the default.

I didn't try yet the fix since for my usage having all the windows available on the taskbar of each desktop where excel instance was "copied" was enough.

Gabriele

Yes, apparently that's the default behavior. The thing is, my Excel has always opened files in separate instances. I'm really quite sure I didn't install any registry fixes.

Anyway, with multiple instances of Excel everything works fine...

Well, no problem, i understand you cannot reproduce it, so i reverted back to 1.5.99, that already fits my bill and i can survive with this.

Gabriele
