Desktops that effect icons only, not windows

I tend to have a lot of icons on my desktop, so I really love how your program helps me organize them, but having my windows get manipulated is really just a nuisance for me. Even when I use the setting that shows all windows in the taskbar regardless of what desktop they were opened on, they still close and open according to which desktop is on, and if I click a window on the taskbar it goes to the desktop it was opened on automatically. I only want icons to change on desktop switch, never anything else.
