Hello:
On windows XP, Dexpot 1.4:
I have been using dexpot for a while, and it's been great. Suddenly, however, I've had very strange behavior starting when I made one customization (see below). When I switch from one desktop to another I lose the taskbar and sometimes the desktop icons. It's as though I've selected the 'hide taskbar' option under the configuration, but I'm certain this is not the case - for any one desktop and for all desktop.
The customization I made which initiated this behavior was under desktop configuration > tools, I chose the 'small icons' and customized the font. After I did that these problems began.
Here's what seems very strange. It seems that even if I close Dexpot (kill it or close it properly), the icons remain small, and the font customized. Furthermore, the only way that I can get my task bar back is to hit (Windows + D) combination after Dexpot has stopped running.
I've tried to completely uninstall and reinstall dexpot, but that hasn't helped. Where are the 'config' files, such that I could make a completely clean installation to try that?
Thank you kindly!

I get something very similar, since a day or two. I've made no customizations (that I know of) that triggered this.
I actually lose all my icons on desktop 1-3 and tehy are present only on desktop 4! now, I've disable the 'Customize desktop icons' feature, so they should all be showing up on all desktops, right?
I've removed the Dexpot directory under the Applications Data folder in my Documents and Settings section. But to no avail
One thig I see, similar to your post, John, is that pressing Windows + D does bring up the icons... What gives?
Help, please. I'd love to continue using Dexpot, but I want all my icons back, too!
Thanks very much.

I know this is answering my own question, but...
I've been able to re-initilize the settings.
Try reloading the default profile from the preferences box.
You lose all the keyboard short-cuts, etc, but at least the problems seem to have disappeared. Still don;t know what caused this corruption of the profile, but at least it can be 'undone'.
So, change the settings and then create a profile so you can recover to it when the problem strikes again...
Cheers,
Marcel

Task Bar / Icons disappear
Hello.
I had a similar problem creating a Desktop Rule. After the creation, I lost the desktop icons of each virtual desktop, except the first one.
I simply restored the situation with the function :
Desktop Windows - Desktop 1 (the only one with icons) - Icons tab - right click on the selected icons - copy
It's a mistery why it looses the icons, of course, but with this way it's not necessary the restore of every default setting of the software.
I hope it's useful for you.
Have a nice day
Roberto
