desktop icon does not function

I installed Dexpot latest version on W7-professional.
The programme is located in \Users\Bill\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Dexpot
The profile, as yet unchanged in \Users\Bill\AppData\Roaming\Dexpot\profile
On the desktop is a Dexpot icon pointing at "\Program Files\Dexpot\dexpot.exe". Clicking it doesn't work; nothing happens. Surely this pointer should look at something that opens the main menu or a standard profile?
