Disappearing HotKeys config page

Postby Gary Olson » 07.05.2012 20:49:40

Server 2008 R2 SP1
interacting applications: Stardock Object Dock v2

When configuring the settings > Controls> Miscellaneous> Remove Desktop
as soon as I configured this to WindowsKey+ALt+R, all the menu settings under Miscellaneious disappeared. I checked all other Controls (Dexpot Components, Windows Commands, etc) and all the menu items disappeared also. Stardock Object Dock v2 also stopped responding.

Shutdown both, restart, all is fine. Just weird.

Dual monitor setup with Nvidia graphics card.

Full screen preview: cannot manipulate application windows -- move or copy. It just activates the desktop. Also, zero width black bars between the window previews.

Uh, got a screenshot?

What you're seeing is the Dexpot 1.5 full-screen preview. To use DexControl, the Windows Aero Theme (bottom of the page) must be enabled and the Platform Update for Windows Server 2008 has to be installed.

sorry, did not get a screen shot. Trying to get my new development station set up.

Yep, know about all the prerequisites and services and Aero and all that; and I am properly configured. I verified all the files and restarted all the services, installed some patches, rebooted----
Full preview still won't let me move or copy windows from one screen to another. Or give me non-zero black frames around my previewed desktops.
This is not a real problem for me; I like to initiative and new features.

Is the DexControl plugin running? Try to enable it manually in the Settings.

Yes, DexControl is enabled and has been enabled. As well as SevenDex; but not MouseEvents.

While the plugin is running, go to the Dexpot plugin folder (usually C:\Program Files\Dexpot\plugins) and double-click on DexControl.exe. Does anything happen?

I should probably note I did not install in the default location but in
C:\Dexpot\plugins

Shouldn't matter. Restart Dexpot and try again to open the full-screen preview using the Dexpot menu. Do you still get the old version?

Yes, the old version comes back.
I should note when executing DexControl manually, none of the application windows are displayed.

Are any monitors excluded from desktop switching? (Settings > Switching Desktops > Multi-Monitor)

Can I assume when both monitors are displayed with the blue color that both monitors are included in Desktop Switching? If so, then no monitors are excluded.

Yes, that means no monitors are excluded. It also means I have no idea what's going on.

No problem. I find problems people don't want to know they have.
Might be some sort of weird interaction with Stardock Windowblinds or Object Dock v2; Object Dock is having some weird performance issues.
