Run second desktop in window

I'd like to use the second desktop, which has a lower resolution than my screen, in a window on the first desktop. Is this possible? Haven't found an option for this (full screen preview comes close).
What I'd like to achieve is a way to be able to select a small part of my big screen for screen sharing and recording sessions. I realize there are options to only share/record part of the screen in several programs but it would be great if I could provide the illusion of presenting a full screen with windows inside the area maximized.
