Windows Change Desktop Upon User Switching

Postby acawley » 03.07.2015 11:39:29

I'm running Win7 64-Bit I have a Windows User for myself and another for my wife, I noticed that when we use the 'Switch User' feature of windows to go to her account and then later switch back to my account. Many if not all of the Windows which were previously open on a variety of different Dexpot Desktops appear to have changed to now be on the #1 Dexpot Desktop.

The system is always left on and I would like to use Dexpot for long-term window management (helps for research into a variety of different topics) however this problem will render it useless for that.

I have tried searching the forum and web although I couldn't find anyone else referencing the same problem, has anyone else experience this? I would love to know a work-around to get it to work as you would expect.

Other than that I love Dexpot, thanks for your time and help folks.

I'm not sure whether it is of any relevance; but I run with Standard User privileges in Windows as oppose Administrator, although I can elevate to Administrator when required.

Update: I am unable to reproduce the problem now whilst switching-users. I believe I may have made a mistake in assuming that it was the user-switching that moved all of my Windows to Dexpot Desktop 1, instead I now believe that it may have been a sly Windows Update that could have restarted my system overnight without me knowing, I have noticed that Windows now tries to re-open the windows and programs you had open last prior to it rebooting your system. I assume this might then re-open them all on Desktop1.

I will watch out for this problem re-occurring and if it does I will check my system log to see if the system was rebooted overnight.

Thank you to Sebastian for his time and help with this.
