Problem with subwindows on other desktops

Postby sTu_Deimus » 20.04.2013 03:25:22

Hi,

I have a problem with apps that freeze in various dexpot scenarios:

Say I have App1 on screen1 and I switch to screen2... if a dialog pops up from that instance of App1 on screen2, then I have great difficulty interacting with that new dialog, and end up dragging both original window and dialog between screens trying to get them in sync, but usually, even if I clear out the new dialog, the original window on screen1 will still be frozen. Its as though dexpot is stopping App1 from finding out that I cleared its dialog.

This happens regularly with Excel and even windows explorer itself!

Another (more vague) variation on this is that if (for example) I open Excel windows on both screen1 and screen2, and...I think launch a new xls file that ends up going to the Excel instance on screen1 while I'm on screen2, dexpot gets confused about which its on, and I also end up having to jump and drag around between screens, to get Dexpot back inline again.

I'd say there MUST be a forum thread about this already, but so far I've not found it. Plz advise.

I'm running it on Win7/64.

Thanks, Stu.

:dex:

Can you give step-by-step instructions how to reproduce this with Windows Explorer?

Hi Patrick. I've only seen it a handful of times in explorer, very sporadically... I would have it on screen1, and a prompt would appear on screen2 (related to accessing a file or directory) where I was at the time, and then upon clearing that prompt on screen2, the explorer window back on screen1 would have frozen, as though the prompt hadn't been cleared yet.

Stu.
