Setting lost when upgrading from 1.5.5 to 1.6.4

I really like Dexpot and have been using I have been using Dexpot 1.5.5 build 1302 for several years on WinXP/SP3.

I upgraded to Dexpot 1.6.4 build 2186 but many settings from the old installation were lost. For example, all the icons got moved to the first desktop and the hotkey configuration was lost, etc.

I restore my WinXP system from a backup and it took me back to Dexpot version 1.5.5.

I would like to upgrade and keep all my old settings. Is there a simple way around this problem?

Go to "Settings > General" and create a new profile, install the update, then load the profile again.

Hello Patrick, I tried that but when I restored my usual profile it did not put the icons on the correct Dexpot screens.

Do you have any other suggestions? Thank you.

Go to "Settings > Switching Desktops > Desktop elements > Desktop icons" and click on the "Advanced" button. Is it set to to separate folders or shared folder?

Patrick, I can't check that because I went back to 1.5.5 and the option you mention isn't there in my version.

Well, sure, it's a new feature in Dexpot 1.6. The point is, when using separate folder mode, it's generally not possible to load icons from an old profile. It should be set to shared folder automatically when updating from 1.5, but check anyway.
