Problems with Excel 2007

Postby blackkitten » 15.09.2011 15:42:24

Hi all,
I am running the latest Dexpot on a Win7 - 64 bit machine, and I have the following problem:

1) open excel on first desktop by double clicking a file -> ok
2) change desktop -> ok
3) double click a file to open excel
4) excel tries to open, I see the minized icon in the bar, but it disappears on both desktops and I am not able to recover it in any way.
only solution: kill excel and retry....

Any idea?
thanks!!!!!

Luigi

Works perfectly fine here. Please enable the Dexpot log file, reproduce the problem and send me the log file.

When you open two different Excel files (without switching desktops in between), do they open as two separate Excel windows or inside a single window?

Do you know how to get Excel to open multiple files in a single window like this? Mine creates a new window for each file.

As a workaround, go to the "Plugins and Extras" section of the Dexpot Settings and change the option "Behavior of windows on other desktop" to "Copy window to current desktop".

not too sure about that. If you want Excel to open separate instances, try this:

Select Advanced, which is on the left, and then scroll down to Display. Select the Show All Windows in Taskbar checkbox and then click OK.

Seems to have no effect on what happens when you open a file. When I double-click an Excel file in Explorer, I always get a new window. When I open another document from within Excel, it always opens in the same window.

I'm new and get same problem with Excel 2007 and Word 2007
Windows 7 Home 64-bit
1.5.99 1858
Dexgrid and Taskbar Pager. 4 by 4 grid.
Tray Icon=Current Window. Double Click on tray icon=Apply Rules
When activating a window on another desktop = Do Nothing
Excel 2007 and Word 2007 Apply rule automatically=YES. Move to Window 3. Folow the move=YES
Open Excel in Window 3 then appears OK.
Open Excel in Window 2, moves to Window 3 Excel appears, 1 sec, disappears leaving the icon in the taskbar.
Set Apply rule automatically=NO. Follow the move=YES.
Open Excel in Window 2 Excel appears OK in window 2.
Double Click on Dexpot desktop icon to Apply Rules. Goes to Window 3 Excel appears OK.
Set Apply rule automatically=YES. Follow the move=NO.
Open Excel in Window 2 Go to Window 3 Excel appears OK.
