Icons rearranging themselves

Postby jch02140 » 12.12.2010 09:59:26

Hi,

I am having problems with icons rearanging themselves after updating Dexpot to 1.5.7
I never have this problem with Dexpot 1.2 before...

I do not have any files or shortcuts with the same file names. The icons rearrange themselves whenever I switch between desktops or placing new items on the desktop.

I am using Windows 7 with "Run as Administrator" option in Dexpot setting.

I have attached the log file as link since if I copy and paste the entire log will crash my browser due to its size...

I have the "Enabled customize desktop icon" option checked if that is what you mean...

Does the problem still occur with version 1.5.8?

i have a very similar problem as it seems to me.
i dont have customize desktop icons activated since i want to share the same icons on both of my desktops.
now every time i lock my computer or the screensaver is run all icons are displayed without gaps in a default layout as i would call it.
i run windows xp, this issue occurs since 1.5.7 or 1.5.8, cant tell exactly.
any ideas?

many thanks,

just a small correction:
the screensaver itself seems not to have an impact, but if a auto-lock is triggered through it after some delay, the scenario appears.

help still very appreciated... thanks!

Did you check if the problem goes away when Dexpot is not running?

hi patrick,

i just checked if this issue persists if i don't run dexpot and i can assure that the described bahaviour does NOT occur without dexpot.

one thing that might be of interest and that i forgot to mention before: i have the option for small desktop icons enabled (although i can't find the setting any more to check if the layout stays with normal sized icons).

oh, and of course merry xmas and thanks a lot for dexpot! without it, i would probably completely refuse to use m$ windoze.

weird, without really changing anything the issue is somehow gone...
lets hope it'll stay that way ;)

i'd the same issue fixed with right-click on desktop in "View" uncheck "Align icons to grid"

Having same problem, Icon's don't really re-arrange themselves they just don't stay where they're supposed to. I turned off align to grid and it's still happening...
