Can Dexpot be made to ignore a window?

Postby Krusty Ruffle » 04.08.2010 08:58:47

Some explanation:

Since Dexpot currently does not animate a second monitor while switching, and the second monitor does not show up in the windows seven preview on the taskbar, I decided to use Virtualbox to run a fullscreen virtual machine with Ubunutu Linux in it on the second monitor. I figured that if all went well I'd have the Linux stuff running it's native virtual desktops on one monitor while Windows as using Dexpot to run virtual desktops on the primary monitor.

The problem:

I cannot get it to 'sticky' a full screen window so that it shows up on all desktops. I can use the titlebar context menu to copy a window to all desktops, but it only works on the second monitor if you do it on the primary monitor and drag it over, but once it's fullscreened it minimizes on switching and is not available on other desktops. It also is blanked out and takes a few seconds to reappear when it is restored.

If I understand the software right then what it does is hide the windows so it seems to me that if I could make a rule or something somewhere to tell it to never hide this window then it should all work out...

I hope that was clear, I'm kind of tired and this comuter has given me a very frustrating week. :)

:dex:,

have you tried to set Virtualbox '=sticky' in the wechsel.ini?

Beautiful!
Under the [Exe] section I added:

VirtualBox.exe=sticky

There is a slight flicker when switching Windows Desktops but I think that is caused by the aero peek feature when pointing at the desktops in the taskbar applet. I am completely good with that!

Thanks for the instructions, it is greatly appreciated!
