Forgive me if there is already a post on this problem. If there is, I am unable to find it.
I am getting accustomed to the idea of multiple desktops, but one problem I have constantly had with Dexpot is about ready to send me back to the old way. I have 4 desktops configured. One program that I use routinely is Adobe Lightroom, which runs on desktop #2. On #1 I run Thunderbird, Firefox, and Google Chat.
Every time one of those programs on #1 kicks off a reminder or message window of any kind, Dexpot shoots me back to that desktop. I will be in the middle of some task in Lightroom, keywording photos or adjusting them in some way, Thunderbird will pop up to tell me a new message has come in or my son pops in to chat, and I am unceremoniously dumped back to Desktop #1 without warning.
I have fiddled with all the settings and rules I can find, and have had no luck resolving this. Can anyone provide a solution? It's fine to get the notifications in the taskbar (though I could live without that, too), but getting repeatedly and unexpectedly dumped out of what I am doing is very frustrating.
Thanks.

Re: Stop Auto-Switching
Hi.
Dexpot Settings -> Plugins and Extras -> Behavior of windows on other desktops. Choose something other than "Switch to the respective desktop".

Re: Stop Auto-Switching
Yes, I have it set to "Do Nothing", but it doesn't help. I still get bumped every time a notifier pops up.
Re: Stop Auto-Switching
Please enable the Dexpot log file and then send me the file after the next unwanted desktop switch occurs. What version of Windows do you use?

I am having the same problem. Also some times it starts to cycle through each of my 4 sessions like a merry-go-round. Very very annoying behavior to a point I just want to uninstall Dexpot. I have set same options as mentioned so far.
I was able to stop it rotating when I did particular mouse gestures. This is all of a sudden it started and I did not change any options other than a version update.
Re: Stop Auto-Switching
Deactivate mouse switching: Dexpot Settings -> Controls -> Mouse switch.
Re: Stop Auto-Switching
Sorry, haven't been back here for awhile. I stopped using Dexpot because of this problem, but I will re-enable and try to get the log file, as requested, to help resolve this. Thanks!
Re: Stop Auto-Switching
Oh, and I am using 64-bit Windows 7, and also have dual-monitor manager DisplayFusion running.
As I post this, I'm at work with the problem on my home machine and I'm not sure I will have time today to do much about it. But again, I will plan to follow through in an effort to help find a resolution to the issue.

Re: Stop Auto-Switching
I tried the advice in this thread, but it didn't keep Outlook from yanking me into a different desktop for each of its notifications. Patrick gave me this suggestion:
That was the problem. I fixed it by using the Remove button for all apps assigned to a desktop.
Check "Assign applications". You probably have Outlook assigned to desktop 1 with the "Switch to desktop" option turned on.
