Move and follow via hotkey?

Postby GeneralZod » 02.05.2009 09:26:55

Is it possible to set up hotkeys to move and follow? I know Dexpot rules support such behavior but I don't know how to do it with hotkeys.

Currently I have to use one hotkey to send (move) a window to another desktop and then use another hotkey to switch to that desktop. Alternatively I could use to two step process of leftmouse-alt-shift and then my switch desktop hotkey.

I'd like to be able to do it in one keystroke. Any way to do that? If not, could this be considered for future features?

In English, it's essentially the different between "sending" a window to another desktop (the current "move" command) vs "bringing" a window to another desktop (which doesn't seem possible in one hotkey).

This sounds like what I've been trying to do. I'm an old BeOS user and was hoping I could set up my switching like in Be. Basically your keystrokes to change desktops are the same as moving windows. So if you're on desktop 4 and you want to go to 1 you hold ctrl and hit F1. Now let's say you're on desktop 4 with an app or window you want on desktop 1, you do the same thing while click and holding the title bar of that app or window which then both takes you to that workspace WITH the app or window you have selected and gives it active priority once you're there with it. I haven't figured out how to do this and setting up "rules" doesn't seem to work consistently let alone allow this.

I like this idea. In fact, I like it so much that it will be a feature in the next version.
