cygwin-X xterm not refreshing on desktop switch

Postby dbriar » 16.06.2011 00:08:58

I'm running Dexpot ver 1.5.10, Build 1579 on Windows XP and am encountering a nagging problem when running cygwin XWin server with cygwin xterm clients. The problem occurs when I'm working on an xterm window on say desktop 2 and then switch to desktop 1 which also has a different xterm window open at the same relative position and the xterm on desktop 1 will temporarily display the contents of the xterm on desktop 2 until I mouse click on it at which time it refreshes to what it is supposed to contain. I commonly have four or more xterms open on each of six desktops and having to click in each xterm to refresh it when switching desktops is a bit of a hassle. For what it's worth I've experienced this same behavior with other virtual desktop managers I've tried as well -- I just prefer Dexpot by far and want to make it work. Any suggestions/hacks/workarounds would be dearly appreciated.

:dex:

I can't reproduce the problem on Windows 7. Still, try saving the attached file to your Dexpot installation folder and restarting Dexpot.

Patrick you're a wizard -- thank you! The cygwin-X xterms on my six virtual desktops have worked perfectly all day today after installing the mywechsel.ini you provided. I've not taken the time to compare mywechsel.ini with the wechsel.ini that came with the original download but all the dexpot options I use still work fine so I'm satisfied enough to adopt this as my production work desktop environment. Nice work and thanks again! ..db
