I see this happen numerous times a day, with various applications, but it's usually on "hard-working" windows, when the underlying app is doing lots of processing, typically Eclipse, Firefox, or Outlook.
I'll also give this test version a try.

Some windows completely unreachable, have to kill process
I often get into a state where a window disappears from my desktop and in the desktop preview, but it's still registered in the Windows status bar. I can then hover my mouse over the icon in the Windows status bar, which then brings up the mini version of the window. Sometimes if I just click on tha...

Re: Dexgrid often has to be run manually from the shell
I haven't seen the symptom recur yet. Does the new version (1.6.9.2285) have any changes to address this?

Re: Dexgrid often has to be run manually from the shell
After a reboot, I found the symptom again, using this special 2266-cp version. I'm attaching the last 2000 lines of my log.

Re: Dexgrid often has to be run manually from the shell
I've installed it on both laptops. As it wasn't happening consistently, I won't be able to tell for sure whether it made a difference, at least for a while.

Re: Dexgrid often has to be run manually from the shell
The other important point is that this doesn't happen all the time. Right now, since my last restart, Dexgrid started up perfectly fine, with dexpot as the parent. I also tried unchecking the box and rechecking it, and it worked fine. During those two steps, I watched the Dexgrid process go away and...

Re: Dexgrid often has to be run manually from the shell
They won't have any security-oriented applications in common. One is a work laptop, the other is my personal machine. I've examined the security settings for both the parent "dexpot.exe" and the plugin, and I don't see anything obviously wrong. I wonder if I can use SysInternals Process Mo...

Re: Dexgrid often has to be run manually from the shell
I've now been able to repeat this on two different laptops. They are both Dell Latitudes with Win7, but with very different sets of applications installed.

Dexgrid often has to be run manually from the shell
I had sent this to the support email address, but I'll mention it here, because it's continuing to happen. I often find that when starting Dexpot, the Dexgrid plugin isn't running. When I try to turn it on in Settings, clicking the checkbox does nothing. What does work, however, is going to a shell ...

Re: Firefox migrating between desktops
What "time" it happened, you mean corresponding to event log entries? I don't know for certain, but it would have been in the last ten minutes corresponding to the log. I have keyboard shortcuts for moving through the desktop grid. I have a 3x3 grid. If I'm sitting on desktop 7, I would pr...

I'll attach it, but Sebastian already looked at it, and didn't see anything significant. This is an excerpt, showing the last few thousand lines.

Re: Firefox migrating between desktops
I'm seeing a similar problem, but it's not happening on screen lock, and it's not isolated to Firefox. I often see it when I'm viewing a window in a desktop and then press 2-3 keys in a row to move to another desktop. I then see the original window appearing in multiple desktops. I see it in both th...

Re: Window disappears when switching desktops
I've also seen similar behavior with one application start happening recently. This particular symptom hasn't happened often, but once it gets into this state it continues to happen until I restart Dexpot (I'm not certain whether I restarted Dexpot, or the entire computer). In my case, I had two sta...

Dialog created by window in other dt requires double switch
There's one scenario that annoys me every day. I have Firefox and Eclipse in separate desktops. While in Eclipse, I select "Check for Updates" and let that run in the background. I switch to the Firefox desktop. Eventually, the update check completes and displays a dialog in the Firefox de...

Was that last one an attempted fix to the problem, or just more diagnostics? I haven't seen it fail since I installed that last one.

Re: pager stopped working this morning
I just got an error dialog titled "Microsoft Visual C++ Debug Library", with the following contents: "Debug Assertion Failed! Program: ...\plugins\Taskbar Pager.exe File: ...\vc\include\list Line: 256 Expression: list iterator not decrementable ... " I've uploaded the dump file a...
