A Dexpot rule was the first thing that came to my mind too. I didn't think to check that it could be the progam itself though! Thanks. I'm not sure how one day it started doing that but I found out how to disable it.

Well, the native alt+tab does the sensible thing of going to the MRU window, where "Most recently used" means "most recently used that still exists". In other words, if a window is missing that just means the MRU list needs to be updated, but having done so the operation behaves ...

The task switcher has a fairly small width which unfortunately truncates window titles that are too long. It's pretty common to have explorer windows (or many other programs) titled by a file path, in which case you want as much of that path visible as possible. There doesn't seem to be any downside...
