Re: Switching Assign Applications

Got it to work! Had to clear out all my previous tags first but works now! Interesting! Looks like we were both right! When you directly launch OpenOffice from XP's Quick Launch bar it properly opens on the screen assigned it, but if you first click and open a OO document which is on another screen...

Re: Switching Assign Applications

Try assigning "soffice.bin" (located in "C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenOffice 4\program" for me). It's the same for all the components of the office suite, so you can't assign e.g. Writer and Calc to different desktops. Unfortunately there're no OpenOffice files in my Program (x86)...

Re: Switching Assign Applications

:dex: Yes, assignments based on shortcuts don't work if the application has some kind of launcher that's separate from the application itself. I think this is the case with OpenOffice, not sure about Word. To clear out assignments, select anything in Assign Assignments with a desktop assigned and c...

Re: Switching Assign Applications

Greetings & keep up the good work, Patrick! To avoid opening a new thread on a similar issue... Just re-installed upgraded Dexport to XP laptop after a year away. I'm able to get Opera and Wordpad to open up on their assigned screens but XP Word and OpenOffice won't even though I'm assigning the...

Thank you for Dexpot and your XP support!

I just wish to thank you for your considerate support of XP. Dexpot can only get better if it went Linux as well. There are so many XP machines out there and still lots of newbies using them, and a product like Dexpot only helps make the experience more helpful and fun. Keep up the great work! James...

Exiting Dexpot With Original Desktop Image Restored

Greetings and Dexpot works for me!

One question or request: When I exit Dexpot, it leaves with its last background image as the new one on reboot. Is it possible for Dexpot to exit and in doing so restores the pre-Dexpot background image?

Please keep up the great work!

Copying Settings From A Profile To A New One

Greetings! I'm very sure this issue has been mentioned on this forum dozens of times, but my key search terms "copy settings" and transfer settings" and "start new profile with another's settings" just isn't hitting the solution reply I'm looking for. I just want to open a n...

Thanks for the reply, Selden, but I can't seem to find this feature in XP. :(

Can I prune down the # of image files in Profile folder?

Greetings! While copying my Dexpot profiles folder as a backup (I'm trying to create a macro to do this too), I noticed that I have over three hundred image files, well over 75% being the same images. I have three profiles, using 10 to twenty images, so I have well over two hundred seventy redundant...

Re: Dexpot triggers XP Windows Installer after using TuneUp

:dex: Have you tried reinstalling Dexpot? Did you let TuneUp clean up your registry? Sounds like some obscure Windows feature which thinks some component registration is broken. Dexpot itself doesn't have anything to do with Windows Installer. Well, I uninstalled and reinstalled Dexpot and gave the...

Dexpot triggers XP Windows Installer after using TuneUp Util

Greetings; This occurs with both newest versions of Dexpot 1.6. Am using a 512meg RAM 1.6gig Thinkpad under XP Pro. After I used TuneUp Utilities, when I started up Dexpot it triggers Microsoft Office 2000 Windows Installer which claims a feature you're trying to use is on a CD-ROM, Error 1706. I ca...

Anchoring apps and their daughters to one desktop

Greetings! I have ten desktops, usually with Thunderbird in one and Firefox in another. When I click a browser link in Thunderbird, the requested Firefox page appears in Thunderbird's desktop instead of Firefox's. How can I keep daughter links of a app anchored to the desktop of that app only? Thank...
