Hello,

I have used your software in Win10 for a while now - up until recently it worked great.

I will try to re-install, but I'm worried there is a bigger issue. Basically switching desktops has become quite slow and cumbersome - in fact the software suite as a whole seems to have slowed down significantly.

The software seems to work, just everything is slow. I close dexpot from system tray, and computer immediately speeds back up (but I no longer have virtual desktops)...

Anyone else experiencing anything similar? Was there a recent update to Win10 that broke it?

Edit - disregard, at least for now the problem was resolved by reinstalling...

Hi,

Which version are you using ?
I have the latest download, dexpot_1614_r2439.exe (4.66 MB) from Last update: September 4th 2014
And this fails to install on Windows 10 ...

Cannot find a later version to download...

Regards, Martin

Works great with my Windows 10. Running 3 desktops, rules, etc. Everything is working great. GREAT job to the author. Would like to see a 64 bit compilation also.

nothing I can reproduce. Am I missing any specific configuration?

I just installed Windows 10 on my laptop. What is the highlight of using Dexpot?

Recently updated to Windows 10 and soon afterwards the Anniversary Update, but I still need Dexpot as the virtual desktop facilities offered by W10 is far too limited.
But Dexpot has problems with W10: The "Assign Applications" no longer works as applications show up in ALL desktops event though I have assigned them to a specific desktop.
I have tried to Remove the settings in AssignApplications window and then Add then again, but no change.
Running latest version of Dexpot (1.6.14, build 2439) and set to run as administrator.
Any advice?

just put the file (viewtopic.php?f=12&t=6078#p36816) into the Dexpot main directory and restart.

Hi Sebastian,
I am having the same issue as this post: Start Menu stops functioning
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6228

i was trying to use the workaround described in the post but it's not very clear to me.
can you elaborate if this workaround is actually working? and how do i implement it?

So, we are now into May so I thought I'd ask if you've had any chance to work on the W10 compatibility issues, Sebastian?

Thanks.

Reinstalled Windows 10, set Dexpot to run as Admin, and it's working as expected. Thanks!

please see our FAQ, nothing 10-specific if I get your description right.

there are some minor issues, yes.

We're currently bringing the Bug-Tracker to life again (besides other applications running on our web server as you may have noticed with the updated forum). Will go live with a link below the forum's support sections once the server transition is complete.

At least on my first attempt to use it with Windows 10 many programs did not stick on the desktop I had set them on. In other words, if I opened Outlook on desktop 1, and then switched to desktop 2, Outlook window would not go away – it would be visible on all four desktops. Same was the case on many more programs than with Windows 8.1 (there are few less commonly used programs that seem to do that). That was the biggest problem (others not seeing it?). The apps issue is not as significant, as I'm not really using that many modern apps yet, either, although the number is probably going to go up as time goes by.

Is there any problem with Dexpot on 10 apart from the Apps issue?

I don't use modern apps and I've been running Dexpot for a couple of days with no problems at all. Personally, what I really like about Dexpot is the ability to make desktops permanent.

Do you have a ballpark idea as to when the Win 10 compatible version may be out? Few weeks? Few months? I have to reinstall my system, and I'd like to go to Win 10, but Dexpot is a critical utility.. if it'll be months before the updated version, I'll go for 8.1 instead. Thanks! :)

re: Guest's post on 26.01.2016 >>
Yes, Win10's built-in virtual desktops are better than none at all, but unfortunately they are rather cumbersome to use as compared to Dexpot. Maybe in time one would get used to it, but I still like the configurability of Dexpot a lot better. (nod)
