Are you sure you can get a 1280x1024 resolution on a 1280x720 LCD screen this way?

Patrick,

Some displays do not correctly report all of the available resolutions, especially some older CRTs, but some LCDs, too. Under XP, there's a checkbox in XP's display properties --> Settings tab --> Monitor tab which says "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display" which one must un-check. XP then provides a list of all of the resolutions that the graphics card supports, and any of them can be selected.

:dex:

How do you manually switch to a screen resolution not supported by the driver/hardware?

Lots of fancy new features in 1.6, but still I cannot choose any desktop resolution that I want. And this seems like such a small thing to fix. Please make it possible to specify your own desktop resolution, instead of just choosing from a list. Because all possible resolutions is not in that list...

Desktop resolutions above monitor resolutions

I need to have a desktop resolution on one desktop of 1280x1024 on my laptop with a monitor resolution of 1280x720, so I was very disappointed when Dexpot only allowed me to choose between the "desktop resolutions that the monitor can display", which means 1280x720 was the highest one. When I manually switched to 1280x1024 on one desktop, and then switching back-and-forth between desktops, the resolution is set back to 1280x720 by Dexpot. :(

Please make it possible to choose or specify other desktop resolutions than the ones that the system specifies that the monitor can show.
