Task suspension and resumption

I'd like to suggest that it would be useful to be able to suspend and resume applications on an individual or per desktop basis when a changing desktops.

Games have a tendency to run at 100% CPU, even when they lose focus. I can suspend and resume manually with Process Explorer, but it would be nice to have this happen automatically.
