I'm not exactly sure what the problem is, but you can get back the old behavior with regard to desktop icons: Switch to Desktop 1. Then go to "Settings > Switching Desktops > Desktop elements > Desktop icons > Advanced". Select "Use a shared common folder for all desktops" and click on OK.

I was a very happy costumer of yours for many years till I finally decided to update Dexpot (I may have been using a some years old version).
Many things have changed, and the one that is giving me many problems is that now each virtual desktop seems to have his own "Desktop/dexpot desktops/desktop X" folder. The problem is, I cannot navigate using windows explorer: I should type the whole path by hand. Also, I don't know how to access the real Desktop folder anymore, neither the other virtual desktops. Please help me, this is driving me crazy.
