Windows Catalogue lag

Why does windows catalogue lag so much? Unless I have 2 or less windows open, catalogue seems to lag quite a bit even when run with an Nvidia dedicated graphics card

Specs: 2.2ghz quad core i7
8gb ram
1gb Nvidia graphics card

The lag does not happen however when "interactive full screen preview and windows catalogue" are unchecked.
Is there no way to smooth this out?
