For those keeping score at home, I found a better way to accomplish what I need.

- assign main Outlook window to desktop
- create rule to copy to all desktops any windows 1) that do NOTcontain the word Outlook and 2) are part of the rctrl_renwnd32 window class

Changed it so that I am using a combination of a rule and application assignment.

- Assign Outlook to a single desktop
- create rule that copies any outlook windows (denoted by class and untitled) to all desktops

This seems to behave much better. Thank again for the suggestions.

Thanks for the suggestions and sample! It kind of works, however the main outlook window that I keep on a separate display (in a 2 screen configuration) will automatically minimize when I move from mail to calendar view. Otherwise the windows are doing what I want.

:dex:,

something like this might do the trick:

outlook.dxr

It might be possible using "Desktop Rules". You'd need two rules, one to move the main Outlook window to its specific desktop and one to copy the message windows to all desktops. This is assuming there is a way to tell the two kinds of windows apart e.g. by window class.

Maybe using "Assign applications" together with a rule could also work.

I don't have any systems running Outlook around at the moment, so I can't try it myself or give you detailed instructions, unfortunately.

Outlook and new message windows

Post by loganizzi » 19.06.2013 23:56:26

Using Microsoft Outlook I was wondering if it was possible to do the following:

- Assign the main Outlook window to always launch on a particular desktop (done)
- When a new email window is opened, have it appear on all desktops (not sure how to do this)

I like to have my main Outlook window dedicated to one desktop, however whenever I compose a new message or calendar entry I would like to have the subwindow that opens appear on all desktops.

Is this possible?

Thanks
