Yes, it's intended this way. When using "Keep all taskbar buttons visible", activating an application on another desktop will always switch desktops.

and when i use "Keep all taskbar buttons visible".
ex:
i'm on desktop 3 and i want to open Firefox (already opened on desktop 1)
I click on taskbar app(ex :firefox opened in desktop 1) then the current desktop is switched to desktop 1.
But i want stay on desktop 3...
I test all option "switch/move/do copy/do nothing" : result always switched to desktop 1...

Desktop is not activates when application receives focus

Post by sinnerman » 16.07.2012 07:20:01

Hi,

Is there a way to get Dexpot to switch to the desktop that contains an open application, when that application receives focus? E.g.:

1. I have my browser open on desktop 1
2. I have my email client open on desktop 2
3. I click on a URL in an email on desktop 2
4. At this point, I'd expect the URL to open in the *existing instance/window* of my browser on Desktop 1, which would then receive focus. That would cause Dexpot to switch to desktop 1.

However, instead of what I describe in 4. above, I actually get a *new* instance of my browser window opened on desktop 2 (the same desktop that's active). This is not a new instance of the application, but just a copy of the window.

Is there any way to get Dexpot to behave in the manner described in step 4? This is how the Mac multi-desktop implementation works.

Thanks.
