Exactly as you say, thanks very much. Problem solved.

Not only do you guys make the best piece of software on my computer, your support of it is the best too, and you do it in two languages. Dexpot's features are all so well thought out, I don't know why anybody would use anything else. And it's free? Wow. Whenever anybody sees my machine, the first thing I do is recommend Dexpot.

Thanks guys. I hope your day is a super great one. Mine is already a bit better now.

:D . :D . :D

Ok, that means Dexpot is not asking for elevation itself, i.e. it's not bug but a configuration problem on your end... like this:

When inspecting the properties on the executable files "dexpot.exe", "Dexpot64.exe", and "updexer.exe", I see they all have the "Run as Administrator" checkbox selected.

Then you should probably uncheck them. :D

However, if I don't check Run As Administrator, it doesn't start automatically when Windows is booted, even though that checkbox is selected.

That's expected. Programs requiring admin privileges can't be started automatically the usual way. There should be a "Windows has blocked some startup programs" message in the taskbar notification area after login.

It doesn't matter if the Dexpot option "Run As Administrator" is checked or not, UAC still asks for permission. The program location is "D:\Program Files (x86)\Dexpot\dexpot.exe". However, if I don't check Run As Administrator, it doesn't start automatically when Windows is booted, even though that checkbox is selected.

When inspecting the properties on the executable files "dexpot.exe", "Dexpot64.exe", and "updexer.exe", I see they all have the "Run as Administrator" checkbox selected.

Thanks,

:dex:

Make sure "Run as administrator" is disabled in the Dexpot settings and restart Dexpot. If UAC still asks for permission, click on "Show details" in the UAC prompt and tell us the "Program location".

Bump. Help please? Thanks,

Disabling UAC for Dexpot

Post by Rexkix » 09.07.2012 22:21:38

I am using Windows 7, 64 bit and Dexpot 1.6.0 Build 2106-RC.

Since the recent update, whenever I restart Dexpot or switch profiles, UAC asks me to authorize Dexpot. It did not do this before. However, I don't see a UAC screen when Dexpot starts on boot. I have tried:

- Reinstalling

- Changing the state of Dexpot's "Run as administrator" checkbox

- Using the Microsoft Comparability Administrator, as described on this page:

http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/window ... ations/635

When I'm in the Microsoft Comparability Administrator and use it's "Test Run" feature, the UAC authorization window does not appear, but it still does when I run it normally.

Please help. Thanks,

Top
