Re: Firefox 8 problem

I did that for 1690 and no difference - no improvement :-(
I will try some other version as I get a chance

OK, here are the results of my rather quick & dirty testing on a Win 7 laptop:
1.5.9 works as expected
1.5.10 works " "
1.5.11 no right-click menu - does not move FF panels
1.5.12 works
1.5.13 works
1.5.14 works !!!!
All of the above were done by shutting down Dexpot, uninstalling the older version and then re-installing the newer version.

When I got 1.5.14 working, I went and re-installed 1.5.8 - which was the one I had been using prior to the upgrade and then let the upgrader do its thing to bring Dexpot up to 1.5.14 and I ended up with the same problem - even after shutting down FF 8 - no right-click menu and hence no moving FF panels; Windows explorer windows have the menu and can be moved to other screens.

Shutting down 1.5.14, uninstalling it and then re-installing it directly - instead of going the upgrade route - and things worked as expected.
The right-click menu appears and I can move FF windows from one screen to another.
Hope this make some sense and helps you track down the problem.

In any case, thank you for a very useful utility.

Let me clarify... There's a really old bug which can cause existing Firefox windows to completely lose their system menu when you exit Dexpot. So whenever you launch a different version of Dexpot for testing, you also have to restart Firefox. Does this explain some or all of the problems you're seeing?

Restart Firefox.

I've re-installed Dexpot build 1721 under Win7 and FWIW, build 1721 does not produce a right-click menu at all.
Neither does 1.5.12 build 1690
1690 moves other windows from one screen to another, but not FF 8.0.1 windows

From what I recall, the menu appears, but the "move" does nothing.

If it will help, I can try to reinstall 1777 on one machine for a short time, though unfortunately I will be away from the Kbd for most of the afternoon - probably the next 6 - 8 hrs.

Ok. Now what exactly is the problem? Is there no menu at all? Is there no Dexpot submenu? Are the menus there but the "Move" command doesn't work?

Assuming you are asking about moving the FF panels:
I did as I always have done thus far by right-clicking on the top bar and using the dropdown menu to get the Dexpot submenu.

How exactly are you trying to do that?

Well, it looks like it actually is a Dexpot problem.

After installing FF 8.0.1 on the Win 7 machine - running Dexpot 1.5.8 Build 1434 everything works as expected.

Reverting back to Dexpot 1.5.8 Build 1434 on the Vista machine and installing FF 8.0.1 there again, it too works as expected.

Yesterday I upgraded my old Firefox 3.?? to the latest 8.0.1 and found that Dexpot no longer was able to move any of the Firefox panel to any other screen, though at one point I had what looked like duplicate panels on at least two Dexpot screens.
Same problem with Firefox 7.0.1.
I quickly gave up and re-installed the old version and now am able to move the panels between screens again.

FWIW, I am running Dexpot 1..5.14, build 1777 under Vista 64-bit.
Curiously enough, I don't have any problems with FF 8.0.1 under Win7

Has anyone else run into this 'problem' or does any one know of a cure or fix.

TIA
