Damn...well that rules out what I experience.
I sometimes experience something similar, but only in extreme cases of High System Resource use by other programs (ie. Multiple open programs, or Photoshop). Virtual Desktop switching will hesitate a little longer than assigned, then I get a quick view of my native Desktop, and then a switch to the chosen Virtual desktop.
For just a moment. I will see the original Desktop Wallpaper.
As though Dexpot was lost for just a moment by windows.
But this does not sound like your issue.
For me I account it to having a really crappy craptop, with onboard Intel Graphics
Now on the Quad Core monster; I never have this issue.
