How to reset password when forgotten

Post by tarotray » 14.10.2006 14:22:49

I found that, for some reason, none of the obvious passwords worked when I tried to access a password protected desktop, so I attempted to hack it. This is what I found:

Close Dexpot

Open the registry editor (regedit.exe) and navigate on the tree to: HKEY_CURRENTUSER/Software/Dexpot
Delete the Passwort x value (where x is the desktop you want to access)
N.B. You can also do the same with the MasterPasswort value
(to delete a value, double-click the key and press Del and then Enter.

Repeat the last step for HKEY_LOCALMACHINE/SOFTWARE/Dexpot

Restart Dexpot. Reset the password(s).

You have now hacked the security system of Dexpot into total oblivion. Has anyone any comments to make? Have I missed something here?
